Reach your potential with equipment designed to support and develop your practice
The Pilates Hut is proud to offer a stunning studio space, dedicated to our specialist large equipment, which can be used to work on specific areas or to complement your matwork classes and improve your key Pilates training.
Our large equipment studio is equipped with a reformer, a cadillac, a ladder barrel, a combo chair, core align and a spine corrector.
The Machines
The Reformer:
The pilates reformer, or ‘Universal Reformer’, is probably the most well known of the large pilates equipment. It is a bed-like frame with a moveable platform called the carriage which utilises your own body weight (as well as a series of springs) to create resistance and make the carriage more or less difficult to move.
There are shoulder pads and a footbar to make movement comfortable and allow for a wide range of pilates exercises that support your posture and alignment. Finally, there are long straps with handles attached to the top end of the frame. They can be used to create (or alleviate) resistance. Classes on the reformer provide a wonderful full-body resistance workout that will align and elongate your muscles safely.
The Cadillac:
Also known as ‘The Trapeze Tower’, the cadillac adds gravity to your pilates experience. A machine that is excellent for one-on-one and rehab work, as well as a challenging and fun workout, the cadillac provides a diverse range of exercises to try. The cadillac is a large frame over a raised mat with a series of springs and a trapeze. The versatility of this machine challenges the body in multiple planes of motion by allowing for standing, kneeling, lying and even inverted exercise positions.
The Ladder Barrel:
The ladder barrel is a combination of ladder-like rungs and a barrel surface and is perfect for length, strength and developing greater flexibility. As you exercise on this deceptively simple machine, you’ll challenge your postural muscles, core muscles and strengthen your spinal cord.
The Combo Chair:
An evolution of Joseph Pilates’ original ‘Wunda Chair’, the combo chair was designed as a space-efficient machine for home exercise but has made it into our collection due to its unique ability to strengthen muscle groups less easily reached by other equipment. It’s a raised chair-like platform, with a resistance pedal and handles. An excellent complement to your pilates regimen.
Core Align:
The CoreAlign is s solid wood frame encloses two tracks and two carts. The carts move independently and silently with resistance (or assistance) created by six resistance tube assemblies on each cart.
Resistance and assistance is possible in one or both directions, providing users with hundreds of functional movement exercises.
In addition to rehab, CoreAlign in used with conditioning standing, kneeling, planking exercises, deep stretches, and core-controlled aerobic training.
𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱-𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 “𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗻” 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵, 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.
The Spine Corrector:
The smallest, but certainly not least effective, of our large equipment, is the spine corrector. Another of Joseph Pilates’ miraculous inventions, it’s designed primarily to stretch, align and strengthen the spinal column. You’ll be amazed by its ability to relieve stiffness in your shoulders and hips, and to eradicate backache.
Reformers
We also have 6 Allegro 2 Reformers, 2 with the Tower of Power installed;
These are located in our main studio space and are used for our Group Reformer classes.
Like group mat classes these provide a full body workout but with all the added conditioning of the reformer equipment and are the same great value as our group circuit classes
